It was her third birthday and Liza was having none other than a princess party. There were jumpers and bumpers, bubbles and balloons. Then there was pizza and cake, tired parents, gift bags and, lots and lots of presents. To name a few, Liza got a Dora doll, Bratz doll, and and Ugli doll. She got another princess, another horse, and, of course, the kitchen set she wanted forever and couldn’t wait until dad put it together. She got arts and craft and things to play with in the bath. She got bikes too big and trikes too small, cute little skirts, colorful tights, and books to tuck her in with at night. She got everything she wanted and more – but one thing she got struck her parents to the core – an online donation to the Make a Wish Foundation in the name of Liza.
On Liza’s fourth birthday, there were the princesses, those don’t go away in a year. But some things did change: Liza’s parents sense of community, their volunteerism, online fundraising all within Liza’s fourth birthday invitation and party. It read: “If you wish to give Liza a present this year, please make an online donation to the Make a Wish Foundation. You can make an online donation in honor of Liza’s fourth birthday by donating online through our personal fundraiser page. While Liza might have been too young for the bike she got on her third birthday, we learned she's not too young to contribute to her community.
