Matt Damon Said it Way Better Than I Did

But I don't have a Vince to call to ask for 150 G's. So I hosted an online fundraiser for the kids by doing an online baby shower to help kids in need. Not having a ton of time, I just sent out an email to everyone I knew saying, "Come to my online baby shower!" Not a minute later, "Who is he?" "You're pregnant?" "Boy or Girl?" and the obligatory "Mazel Tov" in their very, very shocked voices, as if they meant it... the friends and family that really wanted to say "who's the baby daddy?" and "did you know?" and "What the f*&k is going on?" How did you possibly get knocked up without a husband, boyfriend, let alone a decent date in the recent past. My poor mother!

So, I had to rename my online fundraiser because I was not, definitely not, pregnant. I was, definitely was hosting an online fundraiser for our community's most needy children who need diapers, formula, onesies, books, toys, and other basic and other needed items and support to get them through ages zero to three. I could name it: Raising Money Online For Other People's Children, Raising Moeny Online for Children and No I am Not Pregnant, or Raising Money Online - It's for the Kids... then I settled on Online Benefit Baby Shower. And now that people felt terrible and guilty, they were ready to give a lot of money online, and now that I felt terrible and guilty, I had to get started right away!

I raised a ton of money and donations online for the Children's Relief Nursery who targets high risk children ages zero to three. Crowdrise provided me with the tools I needed to post the online fundraiser and start raising the money online. I gave friends and family information about the cause, a little about why I'm passionate about it, and I gave them choices - donate a box of diapers, for example, or donate money online - and I told them how much it would cost to buy diapers for one child for one month or one year and did the same for formula and other needs and for books and toys that were good for kids' development. I made a wish list of the most needed items and otherwise kept the online fundraiser simple. It was simple, low pressure, and an ideal opportunity to raise money online for kids. And, after all the baby mama drama at the start, simple and low pressure was just what this online fundraiser needed!
